Latvian court imposes penalty for sanction violations in the tourism sector
Independent Authority Against Corruption of Mongolia visits FIU Latvia

On 30 September 2022, a delegation from the Independent Authority Against Corruption of Mongolia (IAAC) visited the Financial Intelligence Unit of Latvia (FIU Latvia). During the visit, cooperation between FIU Latvia and IAAC was discussed.
Based on financial intelligence provided by FIU Latvia, the IAAC successfully suspended two large-scale corruption schemes in Mongolia in recent years. One case resulted in a conviction which led to the recovery of the proceeds of crime from the UK. The second case is currently under investigation.
International cooperation is a key priority for FIU Latvia. FIU Latvia regularly cooperates with foreign financial intelligence units and provides information for financial intelligence purposes, as well as requests data from foreign counterparts for cross-border cooperation in money laundering cases investigations.
